Some recent lyrics
My London show has motivated me to shake off my writer’s block. These are some lyrics for two new songs I’m working on at the minute. Once I get the Flight, 112 and Little Grace EP’s properly recorded and mixed up I’ll carry on writing these. There still a work in progress, I wouldn’t say these will be the definitive lyrics but they’re close. Let me know which lines you like best. :)
Boats and Mirrors
VI.
Milk and ash,
Boats and mirrors
Your fingers trace
My spine shivers
VII.
Every horizon
Under one
If I’m the moon
Are you the sun?
BRIDGE I.
Did you ever catch my words repenting?
CHORUS I
In my head
We walk through walls
Your voice is cast, and mine is sure
That in my heart
Your breath is bait
Cementing plans, forgoing fate
In my hands,
We cradle dirt
Your palms are steel, and mine are burnt
From holding on
To soil and shards
From a foundation, torn apart.
BRIDGE II.
Did you ever catch my words repenting?
Did you ever catch my words repenting?
VIII.
Milk and ash,
Boats and mirrors
Your fingers trace
And my spine shivers
In Cast Iron Shoes
Intro
Doused in loathing and
Held up in adoration
I am waiting to feel alive,
I am waiting to feel alive
CHORUS I.
Alive.
VI.
Our scars trace up by our elbows
Eager legs cased up in shackles
It’s hard to run off into the sunset
In a pair of cast iron shoes
VII.
And although I tried to surpass it,
Your faith was a burning casket
Of the desire I’d always aspired too -
and now I could never choose.
BRIDGE I.
It never breaks my spirit more than to hear you
Break your own
It never breaks my heart so bad
Than to feel you break your own
So accept defeat my lonely friend
And accept that you’re not alone -
Here is another random little live performance. I wrote this song last Saturday. It’s called “Unsorted.” It’s supposed to be instrumental as I’m arranging that for a string quartet aswell as the harp but that’s still work in progress so this is me side tracking a bit. Haha. :) Hope you like it. I managed to mess up on the harmonics because I’m used to playing them when the harp is on the floor but here I am playing it on it’s tripod so the halfway mark on the strings is a bit higher up :(. Please leave me some feedback if you like what you hear! :) x
Update from bat land
Hello there, I’ve realized I’ve been a bit quiet on the tumblr front recently so I thought I’d come and resolve this issue and let you all know what I’ve been up to in the past week or so!
On Wednesday, I got back into Bristol after visiting family in the North West and no sooner was I out at the car, I was at Temple Meads Station picking up my friend Bill who had caught a train from Bangor in Wales to come and see my gig at The Croft, which has got to be one of the nicest things anyone’s ever done for me! Bill is also a harpist and has only been playing since November, and he is already sounding and playing brilliantly. :) It was so lovely to have another harpist there to hang out with and make harp related puns that nobody else finds funny other than us.
On Thursday, after showing Bill the sights of Bristol - which somehow ended up in a minor caving expedition at the Clifton Suspension Bridge Observatory and me almost dying of fear on Cabot Tower’s spiral staircases - we arrived at The Croft super-duper early to find out I was playing at a much later time.
But not to fear, because Lucy and Zach were there with their cameras and took such absolutely amazing images (as always) before the show.

I started my set at about half past nine to 8 people, so that was kind of nerve wracking to be playing to such an empty room but in the first four or so songs that room had completely filled up, it was lovely to see so many chilled out faces enjoying the set, even if I did mess up on a number of occasions and my voice was feeling groggy.
Today, I’m off to Factory Studios to meet up with Jess from CollisTV to do a performance of Kill the Wolf and a little interview of sorts so when that’s up I’ll post it on here.
I’m also back at The Croft next week supporting Rosie Vanier (Rosie and the Goldbug) on an all girl singer/songwriter line up so that should be epic. Here’s the poster -

You can buy tickets online here or the Bristol Ticket Shop!
so hopefully see you next time, and the harps send their love… as always :3

Hello!
Haven’t really posted much on this recently, and considering it’s supposed to be my main blog I feel I have failed you, so I am very sorry. :(
I’m not sure if I’ve posted about this anywhere else, so if I have please excuse me but i had some really exciting news recently! Helen Leitner, a lovely lady from Camac Harps sent me an email inviting me to a master class with Isabelle Moretti, currently the world’s best solo harpist at the Royal Academy of Music, London in March so that’s coming up pretty soon. It has to be said, I am very nervous about it considering I have only been playing for a year AND am completely self-taught, rubbish with sheet music etc… but it will be an amazing opportunity and I’m looking forward to meeting Isabelle and watching her play!
Also I’ve just uploaded an instrumental harp cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Today’, complete with unnecessary pirate hat. Would love it if you could reblog/leave feedback. :P
Thank you for reading! Hope you’ve all had/are having a lovely day.

Here’s me playing Water Between Us and a Warpaint cover when I did the opening slot for Lucy Rose at the Louisiana in Bristol on the 1st of August this year. :)
